If you're studying Japanese and enjoy shonen manga, then give Chainsaw Man (チェンソーマン) a try. This series is great reading material for intermediate learners with plenty of action, daily life, and a solid mix of colloquial and formal speech. In fact, I think it’s one of the best manga series ever made for beginner/intermediate language learners.
After finishing the Chainsaw Man anime (2022), I was hungry for additional content, and reading the manga was a great way to practice some language skills while quickly catching up with the rest of the story.
Click here for 250+ free vocabulary cards that covers the entire story of the Chainsaw Man First Arc (2018-2020). The cards are in apkg format and should plug right into the Anki flashcards app. Thanks to the pitch accent plugin, the cards include pitch accent as well.
If you prefer to start from the raw spreadsheet, click this link.
It is easy to use these cards and import them into your favorite flashcard app, like Anki. It might also be helpful to just glance at the spreadsheet once in a while to integrate these words, even after you’ve finish reading the series.
These flashcards were mined from tankobon volumes 1 & 5-11 and are SORTED in order of appearance. The intermediate volumes were skipped because they were all covered in the anime.
Happy learning!
